LORD JESUS, Friend and Brother of our souls, we commit to You our plans and purposes for this day and for our lives. Govern us in the choices we must make; control us in our relationships; command us in moments of thoughtlessness, that we may not willfully go into moral danger. May we confront the duties of every hour with open eyes and steady will.

Strengthen our faith — may it not vanish into mere fancy, or dissolve into mere emotion. Grant us the love of all things in their right relations. Save us from being over-anxious about things which do not matter. Enlighten our minds as we study Your works, and in all our studying may we not forget the study of Your Word. May we hide Your Word in our hearts that we may not sin against You. Teach us the secret of hopefulness. Fill our hearts with good will towards others. May we hate nothing but evil and meanness. If we have enemies may we conquer them by love. May our lives be rich with friendships. Beyond what we are, show us evermore what You would have us be, for Jesus sake. Amen.
