O God, by whom the whole world is governed and preserved, we, Your humble creatures, draw near to You to offer our morning sacrifice of prayer and praise.  We are thankful for Your loving care throughout the night and rejoice over the dawn of this new day.

O Lord, You are with us in our bed, You keep us on our path, and know all our ways. There is nothing hid from You: there is not a thought in our hearts, that You do not know. If there be any thing in our hearts which offends You, O Lord, enable us by Your grace to discover and cast it out, that we may come before You with the preparation of a clean heart, and a right mind.

We thank You, that You have protected us from all the dangers of the night: continue Your goodness to us through this day, and preserve us from all dangers both of body and soul. Suffer us not to forget the lessons of holiness, which we were taught on Your day of sacred rest, but may the lessons we have learned manifest in our behavior this day, and during the week, the blessed effects of Your word and means of grace.

We thank You, O heavenly Father, for all the time which You have given us; and confess that we have greatly wasted and misused it on many occasions. May we do so no more.  Let us remember, that every day is Your gift, and to be used in Your service, and in doing the work of our salvation. O may we have time and grace to finish our appointed task, before the night comes, in which no work may be done. Lord, spare us yet a little while longer, that we may be better prepared to meet You at the last day.

We humbly thank You for Your numberless mercies poured out upon us, and to all mankind. Teach us to praise You not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving all of ourselves to Your service, and by walking before You in holiness and righteousness all our days. Enable us to resist the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil.  Enable us to follow Your Holy Spirit, not trusting our own strength or wisdom, but looking to You for grace, wisdom and knowledge to establish us in every good word and work.

Increase in us true faith, right reverence, and faithfulness.  Nourish us with the Bread of Life, quench our thirst with Living Water.  Lord in Your goodness, and Your great mercy keep us in the shelter of Your great love that we may continue to grow in our love for You and those around us until we come to Your everlasting kingdom.

Be pleased, O Lord, to receive our humble intercession for all men; for the President of the United States, and all others in authority.  May they be Your ministers for good.  Sovereign Lord we pray for the appointed teachers of Your Word, pastors of Your flock; and for all the members of Your Church, lead them by Your Holy Spirit today so that all may faithfully serve You in their several stations and minister to the poor, the lost, the orphans and the widows following Your example.  For You are God their Savior.  May their hearts be set ablaze with the passion of Your love.  Doing all things as service unto the Lord.

We ask You also, have mercy upon all those who have not yet known You. O Lord, turn them to the way of life; take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of Your Word; and save them, together with us, through Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Redeemer.
