GLORY be to you, 0 Lord, all glory be to you, for the, sleep which you have graciously given me this night. A seasonable recruit to the wasting’s, and a kind intermission to the labors, of this poor weak and wearied body.
And now, that you have added to the number of my days, I ask that this and every day may be employed to the perfecting of holiness in your fear, and sweetened with the comforts of health, Of peace and innocence, grant, 0 good Lord.
I ask that the angel of peace, the holy guide of your children, the faithful guard set by you over their souls and bodies, may–encamp round about me, and continually suggest to my mind such things as are conducive to your glory, and to my salvation, grant this I pray, 0 good Lord.
Grant that all the sins, offences and neglects of my days already gone, may, by your mercy, be freely pardoned, and entirely done away, 0 good Lord.
May it please you to bless, the world with prosperity and peace, but chiefly with such mercies, as you know most expedient for the good of all our souls, grant, 0 good Lord.
Grant, O good Lord that I may think on these things, and that I may do these things. Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,.
Finally, grant, 0 good Lord that I may think on these things, and may I do these things, since this life must shortly have an end; may my life be concluded with a truly Christian death, a death, perfectly void of sin and shame, and (if such be your good pleasure) as free from pain as may be.
But above all, it is appointed unto all men once to die, and after that the judgment; that I may appear with comfort, and find a favorable account, at the great and terrible tribunal of your Son, Jesus Christ, who, I believe shall come to be our judge, grant, 0 good Lord.
