It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O You Most Highest; to tell of Your loving kindness early in the morning, and of Your truth in the night-season. Hearken to the voice of my calling, O Lord, my Maker and Preserver; for to You do I make my prayer.

I come before You heavenly Father, with all humility of heart, as a sinful and unworthy creature. I deserve less than the least of all Your mercies. I have sinned and come short of Your glory: but You are gracious and long-suffering, and have compassion upon the infirmity of Your servants, for Your dear Son’s sake.

I am here in his name: be present with me, I earnestly request by Your Holy Spirit; dispose me to serious recollection, and to earnest prayer.

Make me deeply sensible of my sins, and especially of those which I have committed this day; and so quicken my repentance, and strengthen my faith in the atoning blood of Christ, that I may be cleansed from all sin, and be at peace with You.

Awaken me, O Lord, from spiritual insensibility, and bring me to a lively sense of my condition here, and of the value of my calling in Jesus Christ. Enable me, by Your grace, to have my conversation in heaven, and diligently to seek those things which are above.

Make me always mindful of my own frailty, of the shortness and uncertainty of this life, of the eternity of that which is to come, and of the unspeakable difference between heaven and hell; that I may be of the number of those who strive to enter in at the strait gate, and, by Your gracious assistance, find it.

I bless Your holy name for all the mercies which You have bestowed upon me: for my life, health, and reason; for all the faculties both of my souls and bodies: grant that I may use and improve them to Your glory.

I bless You that I were born of Christian parents; I thank You for all the privileges and hopes of the Christian covenant; give me grace to use all diligence, that I may make my calling and election sure.

I bless You for Your patient forbearance towards me, notwithstanding my repeated sins; for Your preservation of me from numberless dangers; for the bountiful goodness of Your providence, and for all the blessings of this life.

But above all, I adore Your tender love and compassion to me, and to all mankind, in the redemption of the world, by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who humbled himself, even to death upon the cross, for me miserable sinners, that he might make me Your children, and exalt me to everlasting He.

I also bless You for all the means of grace, which You have given me in Your word and sacraments, in the ordinances of Your Church, and the opportunities of public worship.

Grant that I may so esteem and profit by these and all Your mercies, that having been faithful and diligent servants of my Lord, I may finally receive that crown of glory, which You have promised to those who love You, through Jesus Christ my Lord.
