IF you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Oh, not alone with outward sign Of fear, or voice from heaven, The message of a truth divine, he call of God, is given; Awakening in the human heart Love for the True and Right, Zeal for the Christian’s better part.
Strength for the Christian’s fight. Though heralded by naught of fear, Or outward sign, or show; Though only to the inward ear It whisper soft and low; Though dropping as the manna fell, Unseen, yet from above. Holy and gentle, heed it well, —
The call to Truth and Love.
ETERNAL God, who has neither dawn nor evening, yet sends us alternate mercies of the darkness and the day; there is no light but Yours, without and within. As you lift the curtain of night from our abodes, take also the veil from all our hearts. Rise with Your morning upon our souls: quicken all our labor and our prayer: and, though all else declines, let the noontide of Your grace and peace remain. May we walk while it is yet day, in the steps of Him who, with fewest hours, finished Your divine work. Amen.
