O Most Mighty God, and merciful Father, who has compassion upon all men, and hates nothing that You have made; who wills not the death of a sinner, but wills that he should rather turn from his sin, and be saved; mercifully forgive us our trespasses; receive and comfort us, who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins. Your property is always to have mercy; to You only it appertains to forgive sins. Spare us, therefore, O Lord, spare Your people, whom You have redeemed; enter not into judgment with Your servants, who are vile earth, and miserable sinners; but so turn Your anger from us, who meekly acknowledge our vileness, and truly repent of our faults; and so O God of all creation, make haste to help us in this world, that we may ever live with You in the world to come, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. – A Book of Family Prayer by Walter Hook
